Key points from the PM’s press conference
- The National Cabinet has agreed to broader shutdown measures
- The medical advice on schools has not changed
- Australians have been urged to stay home unless it is necessary to go out
- Businesses including beauty, tanning and nail salons will close from midnight on Wednesday
- Hairdressers will be allowed to stay open but will have to follow social distancing measures
- Weddings will be restricted to a maximum of five people
- Funerals will also be capped, but at a maximum of 10 people
- The Prime Minister Scott Morrison said real estate auctions, open house inspections, arcades, galleries, museums and play centres are required to close
- The Prime Minister also said Australians will be banned from travelling overseas
